La Compagnie Éphémère
La Compagnie Éphémère is the creative branch of L'atelierCor. It brings together a dedicated community of semi-professional and enthusiast movers working under the artistic direction of Corinne Skaff. It is a long-distance, mutant dance company focusing on movement creation for embodied community building.
Why Éphémère?
The Ephemeral being a common and primordial expression of all living processes. A universal intelligence in the form of continual mutability, adaptation, transformation, and “Becoming”. In the living paradigm that is our body, change becomes inevitable and so the movement of endless beginnings, ends, and encounters that shape and propel us. In response to the shattering realities of our world in crisis, we anchor in relation. What is shared is not lost.
AL(L)ONE (2019)
AL(L)ONE is a choreographic exploration around the theme of Togetherness. What is it to be ONE? How is ONE also an expression of the multiple, and how does the collective behave as one?
Dancers play a collective game of making instant choices and responses that end up shaping the piece differently every time it is danced. The dance is no longer a set piece but a score for renewed co-creation.
Soon I will disappear (2020)
SOON I WILL DISAPPEAR is a collective creation for 10 movers. It questions somatic remembrance and oblivion, how we carry it out in the world as actions, beliefs, and modes of connection. How are we moved by the ephemeral nature of life?
The creative process for this piece started on August 3rd 2020, one day before the Beirut Blast. In the aftermath of the traumatic event, the research of the piece was carried out, between intervals of ground volunteering, searching or mourning for lost and affected friends and homes, as well as moving from our overwhelmed somas, between what was and what remains.
While We Weave (2017)
WHILE WE WEAVE is a collaboration between Corinne Skaff and Director Wafaa Halawi to create a dance video, bringing together different movers from the Lebanese dance scene to meet in an artistic encounter.
The choreographic endeavor of this artistic encounter is inspired by the silk-making process - an industry that shaped the history (and future) of our land and identity- as a metaphor for weaving connections through individual production and exchange routes.
