S.o.M.A 2026

  • OCTOBER 3rd

    10am-11am

    Studio Amalgam, Hamra

FlexiStrap Flossing is a restorative strap-assisted deep stretching technique. This somatic approach, grounded in the holistic principles of Anatomy Trains® and functional movement research, works along entire interconnected myofascial chains rather than isolating individual muscles. These connective tissue networks influence movement, posture, and overall body function.

The technique combines synchronized breathwork, gentle repetitive movements in specific postures, and precise spatial awareness to stimulate the fascial matrix. This process helps release restrictions, decrease stiffness, and improve tissue elasticity and range of motion. It promotes efficient movement, increased body awareness and alignment, and deep relaxation. Whether practiced on its own or as a complement to your existing movement routine, it offers versatile benefits. Suitable for all fitness levels, the use of straps provides support and allows for adjustable stretching intensity to accommodate diverse needs, injuries, and backgrounds.

  • OCTOBER 3rd

    11am-5:30pm

    Studio Amalgam, Hamra

    (open level)

A Creative Movement Workshop in two parts.

Part 1: 11am- 2pm A somatically-informed dance class that begins with a gentle Arriving©, a personal and collective attunement practice developed by Corinne Skaff.

We then introduce functional anatomy concepts and images as a support for exploring technical and more complex coordinations in a safe and efficient way, building up towards a dynamic floorwork and groove across the floor.

Part 2: 3pm-5:30pm‍ ‍A Creative Movement and composition Lab dedicated to dance making explorations and strategies.

Based on a multitude of choreographic elements, concepts, tasks and imageries, you are invited to engage in creating personal and collective scores as well as the practice of intentional creative composition choices.

  • October 3rd

    6pm-10pm

    Studio Amalgam, Hamra

A Contact Improvisation Workshop followed by a Jam.

In this workshop we explore in depth the use of Weight in the partnering dance and how it contributes to generating momentum. First as a base for solo exploration and kinetic organisation, and then in shared-weight situations as a flyer or an Under-dancer. With Gravity as our only constant point of reference, How can we make use of our actual body mass and widen our spatial awareness to generate and ride the Momentum of the Dance? Between spontaneous lifts, falls and rolls, we make a playground out of the dance encounters!

Open to all levels movers and musicians. Bring your water , long sleeves and change, as well as knee pads if you have sensitive knees!
