ContactCampBeirut

ContactCampBeirut (CCB) is the first annual gathering for Contact Improvisation (CI) in Lebanon and the Arab Region, putting Lebanese CI on the global dance map

CCB serves as a vibrant cultural and educative platform, making CI and dance improvisation accessible to local, regional, and international practitioners, as well as movement professionals and enthusiasts.

The festival seeks to create development opportunities infused with a local touch, evolving alongside the Lebanese CI community. It acts as both a home base and a springboard, welcoming individuals from all social, cultural, and professional backgrounds who wish to engage with CI through various entry points. Participants can explore CI through avenues such as professional development, performance, movement research, social and leisure activities, and personal or psycho-somatic health.

Beyond providing quality training and exposure to diverse CI and somatic approaches, ContactCampBeirut invites participants to reflect on how, as practitioners from the Levantine region, we can continuously and collaboratively reinvent the form in relation to our unique socio-cultural and political contexts. It encourages us to pose our questions and seek answers through the exploration of our own physical and cultural bodies, fostering a deeper connection with the art form and each other. Bridging sociocultural gaps, and mostly addressing the body as a powerful thinking tool in a responsible, response-able and non-restrictive way. Workshops are open to all abilities, levels and backgrounds

ContactCampBeirut is founded and curated by Corinne Skaff since 2016.
